A piece of Paradise

Someone had the same thought as me!

A couple of weeks ago, after a long day at work, I collected Noah from my brother’s who looks after Noah sometimes when my daughter can’t. It’s quite handy as my brother stays close to my work.  After a well deserved cup of coffee, decided it was time to set off for home, but as it was such a lovely summer’s evening, instead of going for the bus we walked to Inverleith Park.  It’s a nice well maintained park with lots to entertain Including a children’s play area, duck pond with reed bed complete with boardwalks, small garden area, allotments, bowling greens, rugby pitches and good paths. There are some lovely views from above the duck pond.

After spending some time at the park and Noah swimming in the pond, I was getting rather hungry, and as it takes over an hour to get home decided it was best to start heading home. We walked up to Stockbridge.  Stockbridge is a beautiful little village in the heart of  Edinburgh City. Shrouded in ancient history.

However as we got to the crossroads, Noah was pulling on the lead to go the opposite way, of where our bus stop was. Noah had only been in that area once before and had done the exactly the same thing. Well curiosity got the better of me and decided to go where he was pulling me.

First we came across this Arch, and as we went through, on the other side; there was a lady taking a boot style exercise class. It was rather funny as Noah was trying to go up to people and give him his stick that he had found, so between this woman barking orders, most had stopped to admire Noah.

Stockbridge

I soon saw this walk was a continuation of the water of Leith walkway. I had only ever been on the opposite side of this walk (from Stockbridge to Leith), or on sections at Dean Village.

It was a good opportunity to take some pictures, between Noah playing and disturbing a few school girls sitting on some rocks down by the water.

It was a beautiful stretch of the walkway, and one day I think we will do the whole lot.

Hello’s & Goodbye’s

Saw this and just had to share it. It makes me think of Noah. From a very early age (Well as soon as he was old enough to jump on the bed) – he likes to sit on my bed and watch me go out the gate. It has become a habit for me to turn round – blow a kiss and wave. I thought I’m sure all my friends think I’m mad. Until one day when 2 of my friends came to visit and when we all left the house together. They too turned round, looked up at the window and waved. One of the friends said “did we really just wave to Noah. Yip even they can’t resist waving too. My daughter has admitted that all her friends do the same.

He will often be at the window when I return, this makes me smile and I wave. He will come down to the garden as I put my bike away in the shed. After a hard day at work, it’s nice to sit down with a cup of coffee and Noah will come and snuggle into me for a cuddle. So no matter how hard the day has been, or how tired I feel – It cheers me up. Who would have thought just how therapeutic having a dog would be.

Let me know your thoughts, send me your comments on how you say hello and goodbye to your pets. :).

Bath time

Oh no it’s that time again when your dog is dirty/smelly.

Do not let them in the house only joking. Wipe off excess dirt with an old towel. Handy if you keep one by the door. Before you go out.

“What do you mean I can’t come in”

Leave your dog by the door as you, go and run a bath. Do not be tempted to let them in, no matter how loud they protest.

Noah protesting at being kept at the door!

Prepare the bathroom. Run a warm bath, not too hot, not too cold. Use old towels to line the bathroom floor (you don’t want any accidents – either by you slipping or your dog).

Prepare the bathroom, ensure you use lots of towels

Dirty Dirty Dog!

What a hectic week it’s been. Glad it’s Friday. Decided instead of a long walk I would take Noah down to the playing field not far from where we live, to play ball. Big mistakerunning around playing wasn’t a problem, until I said “It’s time to go”. I walked away saying goodbye – usually he comes running. Oh no not tonight, when all I really wanted to do, was get some shopping, have my dinner and put my weary legs up. Not Noah he then decided he was thirsty and preceded to find a mud hole, not only did he drink from it, he plonked himself down in it. Continue reading
