Justice for cody

Spent a lovely day yesterday with my 2 adorable Nieces, Noah was spoilt with lots of attention which he loves. All was quiet late at night, everyone was sleeping peacefully. I was on Facebook when I saw this was on my news feed.

About a 3-year-old Border Collie called Cody, who was doused in lighter fuel and set alight.  In Maghaberry on sunday 26th august

Who could do such a thing? Thugs doused family’s border collie in lighter fluid and set it alight in horrific unexplained attack

  • Cody, 3, was so badly burnt its ribs and joints were visible
  • Owner failed to recognise it as it limped home across a field
  • Police hunting for two young suspects in connection with the brutal attack

I couldn’t bare to watch the video’s on Cody’s  Facebook of her injuries, just seeing the pictures was enough, to reduce me to tears and absolute horror. I looked over to Noah who was sleeping so peacefully, and was overwhelmed with emotion, thinking of this poor family, especially of the two small boys. One had his birthday this week, he was so upset not to have spent his birthday with Cody. He wanted to give his birthday money to Cody to make her better. So so heartbreaking.

What can make people commit such an inhumane act of pure evil against a much-loved family pet. It’s just doesn’t bare thinking about if something like this was to happen to Noah. I would be full of rage and want revenge. I just hope the people who are responsible be brought to justice, they should be made to pay the vet bills and compensation for Cody’s suffering. My thoughts & Prayers are with Cody and her family, I’m hoping she is going to pull through.

Please everyone think of Cody and send your thoughts & prayers, read her story and follow her progress, and if you can send a donation. I’ve got everything crossed for poor Cody and her family.

  1. I read this article and was simply disgusted. Whoever did this is not right in the head and should be locked up for a looooong time. Picking on a defenceless dog, some people make me so mad – theyre bully’s! Poor Cody.

    • Totally agree. Just posted an update that poor cody lost the battle. Like you I read the article and just couldn’t believe what I was reading. Had been following her story and had been willing her to survive. At least she is now free of pain. R.I.P Cody. I hope they catch who ever did it

      • Oh nooo, i didnt realise Cody didnt make it. That is so sad! I hope too they catch the evil things that did this, seems the kinds of cruelty animals have to suffer is getting worse and worse these days.

      • I know its truly awful. The burns were just too extensive and she was in a lot of pain. The owners had the heart breaking decision, to have her put too sleep. The vets did all they could. Here is the link to her facebook. They have a petition going for tougher sentences against animal cruelty. https://www.facebook.com/justiceforcodythedog.

Many people have shown there support.

Hi Sorry to hear about Cody she looked to be such a lovely wee dog its terrible what happenend to her cant beleive people can be that crual to a dog……. R.I.P Cody

    • Yes totally agree with you Lyndsay. It really saddens me that people choose to inflict pain especially on a defensive dog, one that had, the best years of her life ahead of her and has now been robbed of that; and the owners been robbed of a wonderful family member, cause that’s what pets become.

    The Rainbow Bridge
    inspired by a Norse legend
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,

Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.

Where the friends of man and woman do run,

When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,

Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.

On this golden land, they wait and they play,

Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,

For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.

Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,

Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,

Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.

All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,

Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

    For just at that instant, their eyes have met;

Together again, both person and pet.

So they run to each other, these friends from long past,

The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,

Has turned into joy once more in each heart.

They embrace with a love that will last forever,

And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

    • Cody really touched my heart, and I was sadden at the news that she didn’t make it. This is a beautiful poem, and while I’m truly grateful for you to share these beautiful words, it really should be aimed at the owners of cody. Here is the address to her page.

They have a petition set up in Cody honour, and lots of people have been showing there support, which I’m sure brings just a piece of comfort to the family.
